I graduated from the University of Lancaster in 1987, qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Leeds in 1992. Since then, I have held senior positions in the NHS and worked privately. I was Consultant Clinical Psychologist for an NHS Early Intervention in Psychosis Service for nine years between 2002 and 2011. My expertise lies in addressing emotional and mental health needs of people over the age of 14 years. My work with clients is driven by evidence-based psychological theories and I adopt an integrative approach to therapy, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
I am an EMDR Europe Accredited Clinical Supervisor/Consultant. EMDR is a highly effective evidence-based treatment for post traumatic stress disorder which can also be applied to a range of other psychological conditions. I have highly specialised skills in working with people who have experienced multiple and complex trauma histories often pertaining to childhood abuse and/or neglect.
I have extensive knowledge, skills, and experience to address a broad spectrum of difficulties which may affect people during their lives. Included are:
Anxiety and associated disorders, Stress, Depression, Low self-esteem, Bereavement, Grief and loss, Obsessive-Compulsive disorder, Chronic Pain management, Addiction/Dependency issues, Relationship difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Psychosis.
